Currently, I am running two forums that use PhpBB and MyBB. MY PhpBB forum is active where as MyBB forum is a work in progress. I think MyBB has better look compared to PhpBB, however, it is easier to use PhpBB compared to MyBB. This is my personal experience and yours might be different. Between these two forum software, which one is your favorite?

I stopped using PhpBB after PhpBB2. Is it PhpBB3 now still?

I used MyBB for a long time. I really enjoyed MyBB but left after drama on the support team. I just didn't like the way things were said or going at that time.

Are PhpBB and MyBB still actively updating their software? Any major releases planned?

Both are good software. phpBB has more features, addons, themes and active development.

MyBB has a better UI and UX.

Maybe one of these years we will see the two software platforms release another major version.

I enjoyed both of them at one time.

MyBB was the first software I ever created a theme for by myself. It was very very very basic but I did it!

I am helping with a private branch of 1.9. Only testing at the moment.

Nice.

I need to install them just to play with them.

I could always make guides for them on this forum.

I've not used PhpBB is so many years.

phpBB installing method is still the same. They haven't changed much in years. 4.0 is a very anticipated release. The default theme itself was widely appreciated.

phpBB as you can set more permissions on a forum bases approach or per user group than you can with MyBB.
