Have any of you ever tried to run your own MediaWiki sites?

MediaWiki is from the same creators of Wikipedia. MediaWiki allows you to download, install, and creator your own wikipedia-type website.

Competing with Wikipedia would likely be impossible but with MediaWiki, you could niche down and make a wiki website for a specific topic.

Have any of you done this before? Is it still active? If so, let's see it! :)

Not sure. I always find some use for interesting scripts. I have tried a variety of scripts till date.

I've used MediaWiki in the past.

While it's great software, by all means, it's daunting to maintain.

It can be overwhelming if you're the only person editing a wiki.

Unless, of course, you just work on it a little at a time.

I can get the local community involved. We have a lot of local clubs. They currently use FB groups.

If you can turn it into a group project, then it could be very successful.

I've tried to run a few wikis over the years but they're not easy when you're doing it solo. LOL.

Good luck with it. If you get it rolling off the ground, shoot me a link. :)
