How do you feel about the Invision Community software?

This is a paid software. Pricing starts at around $50 and goes up to around $550.

It doesn't appear that you can download it anymore... am I correct on that?

Back when I used it, it was cheaper and you downloaded it. It was also called IP.Board back then.

Is anyone using what is now the Invision Community?

What's your overall opinion on it?

It is nice software. A bit expensive, but feature-wise that can be justified. They offer good customer support officially. I think their community support has irked a few people in past. Some blamed it on propaganda. I do not know for sure about that.

But it is one of the leading options if you are looking to build a feature-rich community.

And for them to still be around says that people are still using it.

I mean with those prices, you either win or lose, right?

I use them and haven't had a bad experience as of yet. Very little downtime and monthly upgrades and updates, it's very good. Admittedly I probably haven't used as many of the features available but I'm sure I'll start to branch out in future.

I used Invision way back when.

It was popular among weather forum owners back in the day.

I liked it but the features were cheaper back then, like blogs and such.

Nowadays, I'd just use the forum as much as I could, so it would probably work for me.

I'm just used to what I use now.

Nowadays I barely ever see a forum using IPB or vBulletin. It's mostly always XF now.
But IPB is an amazing software.

I've been seeing more IP Boards lately.

But I can't remember the last time I joined a forum using vBulletin!

I agree. I do see a few MyBB and phpBB forums. But other than that, on Google, I mostly find XF.

To begin with.. IPB is a thing of the past.. the current "shite" is IPS.
And yes, IPS is a VERY good script, if somewhat expensive and they REALLY want to push you to their cloud offering since support of such costs them less.
I've used it in the past.... and is it something I'd use again.. still on the fence on that position.
The script is fantastic and has functions that blows others out of the water. But then you have my main issue with the script. The folks in charge of it are simply (in at least one case) a pile of shite (Charles I'm looking straight at you).
I have a expired license for it.. and am thinking of bringing the domain for it back online.. but honestly.. I'll probably look at SMF before I pay out the arse for IPS (which may not be around as a stand-alone script for much longer).

I think their community support has irked a few people in past.
It was more the LACK of community support. They would always tell you to "submit a ticket" when asking for any assistance in the forum.
It was a pet peeve of many of us. Now they are pushing the forum for support and if you want more than 30 days of ticket support you get to pay extra for it.
