Do you use a custom or pre-made style on your forum?

How often do you update your style to something new?

Do you think it's best practice to have a new look from time to time?

Not all the time. It happens mostly when I find a better theme.

In my opinion, don't change it too often. It will confuse a lot of people.

I think, For forum, if new design change some process like post thread or reply then need to avoid any changing because sometimes people may not friendly with new design. If all things are fine then change something time to time like color, features etc.. These activities attract more members for forums.

But for other website time to time changing in style, color etc. attract people attentions. According to me not frequently but after some duration like half yearly or yearly base changing is not bad idea.

Now that I'm on a paid forum host, I'm quite happy using a pre made style and sticking with it. Back in the day I would have lots of different zetaboard themes.

I used to have multiple styles back when I ran MyBB and PhpBB but updating all the styles and making sure addons worked on everything was a big pain.

So I tried to stick with one style.

It is really hard to satisfy people with one theme. These days, dark themes are expected out of every forum.

Yeah, I've been seeing that a lot, lately.

And then people will also want a light theme.

I've considered a dark option here.

Two themes or at least one with a blackout option would be okay.

It's when people want a lot of themes to choose from. That's when it gets a little insane.
