Free gift to register

So, I'm still working on my forum eBook.

My goal is to send it to you all (free) but after that to use it to marketing the registration function.

Join the forum and get this free eBook.

I'm doing it merely to experiment.

I do something similar to entice people to subscribe to my mailing list for my outdoor brand.

After doing that, I was able to go from 60 subscribers to 600. Yes, that number is right.

I'm interested in seeing if it can work for a forum.

Have any of you ever tried something like this before? I'd love to know any experience.

Yes I tried a gift, it was a brand new tablet and was free to the first user who joined and made ten posts.
I've still got it, the bribe didn't work.
